Recall King Hezekiah, when he was soon to die;
how he fell onto his knees, and prayed to God on high.

He reminded the Father how, he’d been mostly good and kind,
and asked to live a bit more, if God maybe didn’t mind.

Jehovah sent Isaiah, who said these words that day:
“He’s heard your prayers, don’t fret: Here’s what God has to say…”

“I see the sincerity, in all your sad tears,
so onto your life, I’ll add fifteen more years.
Jerusalem too, will be spared for a bit;
Assyria wants it, but they’ll flee lickety-split.
If a sign you require, then look to the sky,
I’ll turn the sun backward, as easy as pie.”

So Jehovah stretched the day, and when the work was through,
King Hezekiah was saved, and God proved Himself true.
