As each day progresses, we continue to imagine a week without Jesus. Read about SINDAY and MOURNDAY here as well as TEARSDAY here.

Now, a new day has come…

WEDNESDAY

But, without Jesus, Wednesday would not be Wednesday; Wednesday would be WASTEDAY. Have you ever gone to run an errand and then when you get to the store or where ever, you realize that you forgot your wallet at home or didn’t grab the thing you needed to get fixed? Or maybe you’ve left for work and just before you arrived at the office, you realized that you didn’t have your tools, computer, or work gear? “Great! Just perfect! Now I gotta drive all the way back home. I’m gonna be late because I wasted all this time and now I’m wasting more gas. This whole trip has been a waste!!!” If you’re like me, you’ve done this on several occasions and you’ve really let your steering wheel know just exactly how you feel as you drive back home.

I wonder if we feel the same way when we’ve gone the whole day and realize that we haven’t spent time with Jesus. Sometimes we get so caught up in work or things happening around us that we look back at the end of the day and realize we haven’t spent anytime before the throne of God. We haven’t spent any time in prayer, or Bible study, or meditation, or just being with the Lord.

And if we haven’t spent any time with Jesus, it really doesn’t matter what we’ve accomplished, the day was wasted.

Everything we do should be moving us into a deeper relationship with Him. Because at the end, it won’t matter how many errands we ran, how much work we got done, or how much drama we muddled through. What will matter is Jesus. He is our hope, our savior, our love, our sustainer. Time spent away from Him is not just wasted time, its time spent wasting away.
